What to Expect

Supplies for Success will have your group working as a team and giving back at the same time in this popular on-site school supply charity team building activity in Mexico. Based off the game show “Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader”, contestants/teams will play a series of 5th grader games with the content taken from elementary school text books. Along the way, contestants will earn points by answering a series of questions and completing challenges spanning various elementary subjects such as animal science, spelling or math, earning points/money for their team! The points/money will be used to “purchase” school supplies to create school “give bags” which will be donated to a local Mexican school!

A year’s worth of school supplies for one child in Mexico costs on average $20usd. For many of the working poor, this is a week’s worth of wages. There are children who are not going to school because their family cannot afford school supplies. Those that do attend, often do not have a pencil or paper to write with. How can these kids learn when they don’t have the tools?

Your group will be responsible for assembling “give bags” of grade specific school supplies for students. These bags will be donated and stored until the beginning of the school year when the kids will receive the bags and get ready for classes! The following is a sample “give bag” that can be created.

  • 24 pack of colored pencils
  • white erasers
  • glue sticks
  • rounded or pointed scissors
  • simple calculators
  • pencil cases
  • yellow highlighters
  • folders with pockets
  • USB for computer research
